The Orchard Enrichment
Each Friday at The Orchard, students embark on enrichment activities which are designed to prepare them for post-16 pathways, immerse them in outdoor education and enhance their cultural capital.
So far this half-term, Brother Kadhim has visited The Orchard to talk to students about the Muslim faith. This was followed by cooking a delicious curry and trying the traditional dessert, halva. We also had a range of other visitors – some scaly and some hairy!
Other students have been practising their swings and grips on the golf course, as well as working down on the farm, rejuvenating the pond and planting bulbs, preparing for the Spring.
Finally, independent travel was practised by getting the bus into Durham city centre and we went walkies when volunteering at the local dog shelter.
Phew – and we’re only half-way through the term!
