Students at The Orchard have been spreading Christmas joy all around Consett this week! First, we visited Redwell Hills Care Home to deliver handmade cards and biscuits to the residents. Then, we took donations to Glenroyd House, a charitable organisation which creates Christmas food hampers for those in need at this time of year. A huge thank you to all staff, students and parents who got involved.
The following days have been identified as whole school staff training days, therefore school will be closed to all pupils on these days.
Ian Abbiss, from St John’s Ambulance, visited us to deliver a scenario-based and hands-on Street First Aid session. Students learned crucial skills such as how to put a friend in the recovery position, how to create a tourniquet and how to administer CPR. Everyone participated with such enthusiasm!

Durham County Council Apprenticeships are now live on North East Jobs closing date for the apprenticeships is 24th March https://www.northeastjobs.org.uk
Information sessions will be in County Hall on the 28th of February and the 13th of March from 4 till 6 in Committee Room 2 for any one interested in attending.

Some of our KS4 pupils in the Maples have just had their passing out parade after successfully completing an 11-week level 1 resilience programme with Durham County and Darlington Fire Brigade which was sanctioned by the Durham Police and Crime commissioner. This was completed at the Spennymoor fire station. Well done!
